Mr. Xu Hongcai, Director of the Economic Research Department of CCIEE, and Xu Chaoyou, Director of the Exchange Department, Met with EBRD Chief Economist Mr. Hans Peter Lankes

On June 16, 2015, Mr. Xu Hongcai, Director of the Economic Research Department of CCIEE, along with Xu Chaoyou, Director General of External Affairs Department, met with Mr. Hans Peter Lankes, Chief Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

This current visit of Mr. Lankes is like a prelude to Mr. Sir Suma Chakrabarti’s attendance at Global Think Tank Summit to be hosted by CCIEE at the end of June. Mr. Lankes discussed with us the possibility of taking part in the “One Belt and One Road” Initiative and joining hands with AIIB, and introduced the rich experience of EBRD in promoting the privatization of State-owned enterprises, financing of SMEs and promoting public-private partnership (PPP) in public infrastructure programs in Eastern Europe and Central Europe. He also introduced the major research areas of the EBRD Research Department and the recent annual reports of EBRD, and expressed his strong wish of conducting joint research with CCIEE. Mr. Xu Hongcai conducted an in-depth discussion and reached major consensus with Mr. Lankes concerning the “Belt and Road” Initiative, AIIB, Panda bonds, RMB internationalization and other issues. Mr. Xu Chaoyou briefed Mr. Lankes on the preparation of the 4^th Global Think Tank Summit. Also present at the meeting was Huang Yongfu, Researcher of the Department of Economic Research.
