On 24 February 2016, Mr. Zhang Xiaoqiang, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of CCIEE met with Mr. Zimmerman, Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham), exchanging views on Sino-U.S. economic and business relations and AmCham’s 2016 China Business Climate Survey Report. Mr. Ren Haiping, Deputy head of Strategic Research Department, Mr. Xu Chaoyou, Director-General of External Affairs Department at CCIEE, Mr. Collin and Mr. Zarit, AmCham’s Vice Chairmen and Ms. Helen Ye, Vice President were present.

AmCham briefed on the Report and suggested that Chinese policy priorities should be given to establishing a more fair and transparent legal system, further opening its domestic market and ensuring fair market environment to encourage innovation.

Mr. Zhang Xiaoqiang said that the AmCham’s Report has rather objectively reflected the overall situation of foreign businesses in China. He also explained in great details the reasons for the slowdown of China’s import and export, the progress in terms of transforming government administration function through combined means of delegating power and management, and reform on the supply side.

Both sides agreed that China and the U.S. are economically interdependent and should pull together and strive for joint development.
