CCIEE Holds 10th "Monthly Economic Talk"

On April 28, 2010, CCIEE held its 10th “Monthly Economy Talk” in Nan Jing City, Jiang Su Province, under the theme of “Cross-Taiwan Straits Economic & Trade Development: New Trend, New Opportunity, New Challenge.” Wei Jianguo, Secretary General of CCIEE and Shen Jian, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Nanjing Committee and Executive Vice Mayor, jointly chaired the Talk. Also at the Talk were Zheng Xinli, Permanent Vice Chairman of CCIEE and Ji Jianye, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Nanjing Committee and Mayor of Nanjing, Zhao Xiaojiang, Vice Mayor of Nanjing and other officials.  

Experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from both sides discussed new ideas, new strategies and new initiatives for further developing and consolidating Cross-Taiwan straits economic and trade relations. They said that the world economy is experiencing an ongoing adjustment after the global financial crisis, and China’s economy is also going through a critical transitional period, which creates great potential development and markets for enterprises of both sides. In the post financial crisis era, entrepreneurs from both sides will have more opportunities to cooperate and therefore, a new platform for cooperation between the two sides should be established. The new trend has brought the two sides with new opportunities and challenges in the areas of economic and trade relations.   

Zhang Yunling, Director of the Institute of International Studies at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zhang Yansheng, Director of International Economic Research Institution at National Development and Reform Commission, Wang Jun, Research Fellow of CCIEE, Wang Jianmi, Research Fellow of the Institute of Taiwan Studies at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered speeches according to the theme of the Talk. Afterwards, Xu Kangning, Dean of the School of Economics and Management at the Southeast University, Gong Renwen, Executive Vice President of the Institute for Information Industry, Taiwan, Bai Chongliang, President of Taiwan Ogilvy Group, Wang Zhongyuan, President of Wang Film Productions Co. Ltd., Taiwan, Qiu Biao, Chairman of Taiwan Emission Trading Association, Weng Mingxian, President of Taiwan GCL Solar Limited and other guests made observations on those speeches.
