Former Chairman of the US Democratic National Committee Terry McAuliffe Visits CCIEE

On the morning of May 21, 2010, Wei Jianguo, Secretary General of CCIEE, met with Terry McAuliffe, former Chairman of the US Democratic National Committee and Chairman of GreenTech Automotive Corp.. Also at the meeting were Zhang Xiaochong, Deputy Secretary General of CCIEE, Xu Chaoyou, Deputy Director General of the Department of External Affairs of CCIEE, Dr. Niu Tiehang of the Department of Information of CCIEE, Wang Xiaolin, President of GreenTech Automotive, Luo Yong, Executive Deputy Director of the Center for China Financial Policy Research at Peking University also attended the meeting.

            

McAuliffe is a longtime political adviser for the US Democratic Party and served as Chairman of Hillary Clinton presidential campaign. At present, he is the Chairman of GreenTech Automotive. Mr. Wei extended his warm welcome to Mr. McAuliffe, commended him for the continuous contribution to promote China-US economic and trade relation. Wei also said that CCIEE has already established partnership with a number of foreign think tanks, meanwhile, CCIEE also offers consulting services to some of Fortune 500 companies on entering Chinese markets. China is consolidating the automotive industry and developing green economy. The two sides can strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the areas of motive power innovation and automotive industry’s clean energy and energy efficiency.

Mr. McAuliffe pointed out that green economy is a top priority of the Obama Administration. He is currently committed to promote green energy industry globally and establish a global fund for green energy, which will raise fund on a global scale. This fund will be used for innovating green technology, creating new job opportunities as well as promoting green industry.

Finally, the two sides agreed that China and US have great potential and prospects for cooperation in terms of promoting China-US economic and trade relation, conducting new energy research, supporting developing countries and other issues. Therefore, further cooperation will be strengthened.
