Vice Chairman Wei Jianguo Meets with UN Resident Coordinator Nicholas Rosellini

On 13 January 2017, Wei Jianguo, Vice Chairman of CCIEE met with Nicholas Rosellini, UN Resident Coordinator in China. Mr. Zhang Yongjun, Deputy Chief Economist of CCIEE, Agi Veres, UNDP Country Director in China, Liu Renfei, Senior Advisor to the UNDP Resident Representative, were present at the meeting.

Mr. Rosellini expressed that the third High-Level Policy Forum on Global Governance, co-hosted by CCIEE and UNDP in November 2016 to explore the new opportunities for regional development brought by the Belt and Road Initiative is a great success and a number of brilliant policy recommendations have been made by participants of the forum. Next, the two sides should continue to make joint effort to write reports with the aim of serving the Belt and Road countries continuously, while attracting more countries to take part in the initiative and pursuing cooperation in the aspects of economy, society and policy. The new platform established at the forum last November, aimed at sustainable development cooperation will provide enterprises of the Belt and Road countries with various services and support.

CCIEE Vice Chairman Mr. Wei introduced a few infrastructure-related projects such as the Silk Road Fund, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and the successful construction projects conducted by China in Africa through Third Country Certification. Furthermore, Mr. Wei and Mr. Rosellini also exchanged their views on how could UNDP make smooth cooperation in regions like Tumen River, China, Mongolia, and Russia. At the end, the two sides agreed to produce more reports jointly and release them appropriately in 2017.
