Research Findings will be released at the Thematic Session on Think Tank Exchanges

On the afternoon of May 11, 2017, the State Council Information Office of China held the press conference for promoting people-to-people bond in the countries along the belt and road. Tuo Zhen, Vice Minister of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, Tian Xuejun, Vice Minister of Education, Ding Wei, Vice Minister of Culture, Tong Gang, Vice Minister of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, and Zhang Xiaoqiang, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) introduced their main tasks and works and answered questions from the press.

                   

Zhang Xiaoqiang noted that the Thematic Session on Think Tank Exchanges is expected to make achievements in different aspects. Experts from think tanks around the world will express their viewpoints on such issues as how to promote cooperation in the building of the Belt and Road, how to give the positive role of think tanks into full play and reach consensus on building a colorful silk road.

                   

Many Chinese organizations and research institutions will take the opportunity to undertake joint research projects, personnel exchanges and training, host seminars, sign agreements or MoU and release initiatives with organizations from Laos, Pakistan, France, Britain and the Boao Forum for Asia. The Chinese organizations include CCIEE, China Institute for Macroeconomic Research, Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation under the Minister of Commerce, Chinese Academy of Governance, Huada Gene Research Institute of China, CNPC Economics and Technology Research institute, the Graduate School of Tsinghua University and others.

Furthermore, several research reports will be released during the conference, such as “The Belt and Road & Global Governance Report”, written by UNDP and CCIEE, “The Belt and Road: Trade and Investment Index”, a research jointly conducted by National Development Bank and CCIEE, and “The Construction of the Belt and Road Big Data”, completed by CCIEE and Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences.
