Former Vice Minister of MOFTEC Zhang Xiang Delivers Academic Speech at CCIEE

On the afternoon of July 6, 2010, Zhang Xiang, Vice Chairman of CCIEE and former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, was invited by CCIEE to give an academic speech entitled “Globalization, Intellectualization and Service-oriented Economy”. Prof. Zheng Xinli, Permanent Vice Chairman of CCIEE, presided over the seminar. 

       

Mr. Zhang used informative data to show that the world economic structure is transforming to a service-oriented economy in the post era of agricultural economy and industrial economy. Combining with case studies of other economies, he concluded six primary laws of service-oriented economic development, and revealed the importance of service-oriented economy for leading and promoting technical innovation and economic development. At the end of his speech, Mr. Zhang pointed out that service industry is the soul of transforming China’s economy, optimizing and updating its industrial structure, and developing its foreign trade. China’s service-oriented economy must achieve leap-forward development, which is directed by marketization, intellectualization as well as internationalization.    

Prof. Zheng gave excellent comments on certain major issues in Mr. Zhang’s speech, especially the relationship between service-oriented economy and the strategic transformation of China’s economic development mode, the relationship between service-oriented economy and independent innovation and so on.

Staff of the research department and information department at CCIEE participated in this seminar, and discussed issues related to service-oriented economy with Mr. Zhang.
