CCIEE and Dalian Municipal Government Host 2010 Annual Meeting of China’s Economy (Summer Forum)

On August 15, 2010, the 2010 Annual Meeting of China’s Economy was held in Dalian, capital city of LiaoNing Province. This forum was jointly hosted by CCIEE and Dalian Municipal Government. More than 400 prominent Chinese scholars, governmental representatives and entrepreneurs attended the forum. Under the theme of “Theory & Practice of Transforming Economic Development Mode”, guests had an in-depth discussion and analysis regarding current international and domestic macroeconomic situation, transformation of economic development mode, system of evaluation and other issues.

Mr. Zeng Peiyan, former member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee, former Vice Premier of the State Council, Chairman of CCIEE, sent a congratulation letter and wished the forum every success.

Many distinguished guests delivered speeches at the forum, including Mr. Wang Chunzheng, Executive Vice Chairman of CCIEE and Director of the NDRC Academic Committee, Prof. Lawrence Lau, former Chancellor of the Chinese University of Honk Kong, Mr. Chen Yuan, Executive Vice Chairman of CCIEE and Chairman of the State Development Bank, Mr. Zheng Xinli, Permanent Vice Chairman of CCIEE, Mr. Wei Jianguo, Secretary General of CCIEE, and Mr. He Keng, Vice Chairman of the NPC Financial and Economic Committee. Mr. Xia Deren, member of the Standing Committee of Liaoning Province and Secretary of Dalian Municipal Committee, delivered a keynote speech at the main forum of the opening ceremony, and Mr. Li Wangcai, Mayor of Dalian Municipal, addressed the opening ceremony.    

The Dalian Forum consisted of one main forum entitled “Transforming Economic Development Mode with Scientific Methodology”, and three sub-forums: “Analysis of International & Domestic Economy”, “Scientific Evaluation of How to Transform Economic Development Mode & Green and Low-Carbon Development” and “China’s Voice: China’s Transformation of Economic Development Mode”. It is widely believed among the guests that China’s economy is doing well currently and national economy continues to progress as expected. Nonetheless, China’s economy is still facing great challenges as a result of the European sovereign debt crisis and structural imbalance in the domestic economy. In order to deal with the complex economic situation, we should maintain the stability and consistency of Macroeconomic policy to accelerate the transformation of the economic development mode. Meanwhile, the forum attendees also spoke highly of Dalian’s economic achievement and its measures regarding economic development mode.  

CCIEE also launched three publications at the conference, they are: “China’s Economic Analysis & Outlook: 2010 Semi-Annual Report”, “World Economic Analysis & Outlook: 2010 Semi-Annual Report”, “Evaluation Index of China’s Transformation of Economic Development Mode”, and “Theory & Practice of Dalian’s Transformation of Economic Development Mode (Outline)”.
