The research team went to Yueyang, Zhangzhou, Huaihua, Xiangtan, Zhuzhou and Changsha, visiting nearly 20 companies and Xiangtan High-tech Zone and Zhuzhou Economic Development Zone. At the seminars with local companies and officials, they exchanged opinions on issues such as optimizing regional coordination and urban-rural integration development, undertaking industrial transfer in the eastern region, and cultivating local industries. In Changsha, the research team also had meetings with different local governmental departments.

CCIEE Vice-Chairman Han Yongwen said that the Party Central Committee and the State Council have attached great importance to promote regional coordination and urban-rural integration development and has made strategic arrangement and released a number of important papers since last December, such as the “Opinions on Establishing a More Effective Regional Coordinated Development Mechanism” and “Building a Sound Urban-Rural Integration Development”. With the support of the National Development and Reform Commission, CCIEE hopes to come up with high-quality research reports and targeted measures for national decision-making.

After the investigation, Han Yongwen said that Hunan has earnestly implemented the spirit of the central government, and great achievements have been made in promoting regional coordination and urban-rural integration development by making the best use of its own advantages and building its core competitiveness. If Hunan can seize the great opportunity to undertake the transfer of eastern industries, give full play to its regional advantages in China’s coordinated development, and maximize the potential of urban and rural integration, it will definitely promote the coordinated and healthy development of the local economy

Members of the research team “Regional Coordination and Urban-Rural Integration Research” Ma Qingbin, Wang Guanqun, Shen Jiawen, and Li Di participated in the fact-finding trip.
