CCIEE Holds 15th “Monthly Economic Talk”

On the morning of September 22^nd, 2010, CCIEE held its 15th “Monthly Economic Talk” at Beijing Media Center, under the theme of “Comparison and Prospect of Development Patterns between the US and China”. Mr. John Naisbitt, renowned American futurist and author of the book “China’s Megatrends” and his wife Mrs. Doris Naisbitt, co-author of “China’s Megatrends” delivered speeches, while Mr. Wei Jianguo, Secretary General of CCIEE, chaired the talk.

The Naisbitts started their addresses by talking about their new book “China’s Megatrends”, which was published in 2009. They introduced the eight pillars concept of the new China elaborated in the book. Moreover, they believe that China is creating an entirely new society with different economic and political systems. The new economic model has elevated China to a leading position in the world economy, while China’s political model might be able to prove that capitalism is only part of human history. Mr. Naisbitt prophesied that the China Model will affect the entire world and China’s GDP is likely to overtake the US after 2025.     

Amid an enthusiastic and friendly atmosphere, the audiences exchanged views with the Naisbitts on such issues as the trend of American and Chinese economic development, the prospect of the US-China relationship, the RMB exchange rate and so forth. Also attended the talk were staff of the Research and Information Departments at CCIEE, member companies of CCIEE, people from various enterprises, research institutions and news agencies.
