CCIEE Chairman Meets With Chairman of Bertelsmann Stiftung

On the afternoon of November 10th, 2010, Mr. Zeng Peiyan, Chairman of CCIEE, met with Mr. Gunter Thielen, Chairman and President of the Bertelsmann Stiftung. Also at the meeting were Mr. Zheng Xinli, Permanent Vice Chairman and Mr. Wei Jainguo, Secretary General of CCIEE, Mrs. Liz Mohn, Vice Chairwoman and Vice President of the Bertelsmann Stiftung.

              

Mr. Zeng Pointed out, the Global Governance and Sustainable Economic Development Conference which was jointly held ahead of the G20 Summit in Seoul by CCIEE and the Bertelsmann Stiftung has great significance. The conference is the first cooperation between CCIEE and the Bertelsmann Stiftung and he believed the two will have deeper exchanges in the future. Mr. Zeng also introduced CCIEE and said it has gathered a number of high-qualified scholars and experts in the field of economic research, though it has been established for less than two years.

Mr. Zeng elaborated three main tasks of CCIEE: the first one is researches, including researches on international economy and finance, domestic economic issues as well as providing the relevant organizations with opinions and recommendations regarding certain domestic and foreign economic issues. The second one is to create a platform for exchanges among domestic and foreign think tanks, scholars and enterprises. The third one is to provide consulting services to Chinese enterprises going international and foreign companies entering Chinese market. For the help and support Bertelsmann Stiftung has given to natural disaster relief and education in China, Mr. Zeng expressed his appreciation. He hoped the two organizations could further strengthen exchanges and conduct cooperation in the fields both parties are interested in. 

Mr. Thielen thanked Mr. Zeng for the meeting and said the jointly-organized conference has created an effective platform for exchanges among Chinese and foreign scholars. The conference has been very successful and impactful. Together with Mrs. Mohn, they introduced the Bertelsmann Stiftung and said the foundation is mainly used for economy, health care, public health, education, employment and other global public welfare activities. They hoped to further strengthen cooperation with CCIEE and to increase their investment in Chinese education and other public welfare undertakings. Mr. Thielen pointed out, CCIEE has achieved significant progress and international influence, though it was founded less than two years. He hoped the two sides could deepen cooperation to make joint contribution to globalization and the development of mankind.
