On June 18, China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), Japan-China Economic Association (JCEA) and Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) held a video conference on the topics of “Issues, Paths and Perspective of China-Japan-ROK Regional Cooperation” “Opportunities and Challenges of China-Japan-ROK Cooperation in Science and Technology, Industry and Energy” and so on.

The representatives of the three parties agreed that, in the wake of the global COVID-19 pandemic, protectionism is evident and technical barriers to trade and investment are increasing. Facing common challenges, China, Japan and South Korea should use their respective advantages to strengthen communications and cooperation in economy and trade, the battle against pandemic, low-carbon economy, environmental protection and innovation, and to create a new opening-up dynamic across the region with a more open posture. Through establishing an institutional framework with common rules and standards, the three countries could help form a new pattern of globalization led by East Asia, and assume their due responsibilities in dealing with global or common problems.

Representatives from China, Japan and ROK participated in the video conference were Zhang Yansheng, Chief Researcher of CCIEE, Wang Xiaohong, Deputy Head of CCIEE’s Department of Information, Liu Xiangdong, Deputy Head of CCIEE's Department of Economic Studies, and Lu Xinhong, Researcher of CCIEE’s Department of Strategic Studies; Sadahiro Sugita, Managing Director of JCEA, Kawai Gen, Director of JCEA's Beijing Office, Takamoto Suzuki, Economic Research Team Director of Marubeni (China) Co.
