CCIEE Hosts 2021 Dameisha Carbon Neutrality International Forum

On October 17, China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) hosted 2021 Dameisha Carbon Neutrality International Forum in Shenzhen. Themed with “Contribute to Achieving Decarbonization Goals, Build a Bright Future Together”, the forum initiated discussion on “Routes and Challenges of Community Carbon Neutrality”, “City Evolution: How to achieve a win-win situation between low carbon and development” and “Investment Opportunities and Challenges in Carbon Neutrality”. Action on 2021 China City Community Carbon Neutrality Dameisha was released at the forum, which contributes wisdom and power to the goals of peaking carbon emissions and realizing carbon neutrality.

 

 

 

Zhang Dawei, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CCIEE, and Jiang Zengwei, Vice Chairman of CCIEE attended the forum. Xie Zhenhua, China’s Special Envoy for Climate Change, Jan Mattsson, Former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Wang Jinnan, President of Chinese Academy of Environmental Planning (CAEP) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), and Wang Shi, Chairman of Vanke Foundation and Honorary Chairman of Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation, delivered keynote speeches respectively.



As Jiang Zengwei put in the welcoming remarks, no country in this world can step aside the course of climate change. As development of global economy faces huge challenges currently, carbon neutrality is not only an effective resolution to advance green recovery of world economy, but also an opportunity for international community to coordinate actions and improve global governance. “Dual carbon” targets trigger extensive and profound reform in China’s economy and society. So far, China has integrated the concept of low carbon in multiple social sectors as “dual carbon” targets serve as a powerful engine for China to achieve high-quality and green development.
