As stated in Bi Jingquan’s remarks for the Forum, this world is now experiencing great changes unseen in the century as international situation faces profound adjustment. Although China has roughly resumed to normal production and life from the pandemic, it bears pressures such as pandemic resurgence in some areas, weak momentum of economic development and increasing prices of bulk commodities. In the new historical phase, Chinese government has put forward five development concepts, prioritized innovation as a major strategy for economic development, and encouraged innovation with multiple incentives. The profound changes the world is undergoing bring not only challenges, but also opportunities. Hence, China should seize the historical chance, conform to the trend of the times, and lead the new era of the world economy with innovation.

Chinese government has attached great importance to the prevention and treatment of cancer, formulated action plans for cancer prevention and treatment, promoted early screening, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, encouraged the R&D, sale and use of cancer drugs, and proactively promoted international cooperation on cancer drugs with the U.S., the EU, Japan and other countries, basically realizing the connection with the globe. China will continue to improve healthcare services in primary level, strengthen international cooperation, and achieve the accessibility of drugs, so as to benefit all patients.

During the Special Meeting, participants launched in-depth and frank exchanges on international clinical experiment cooperation on cancer, faster approval for cancer drugs to be on market and remote healthcare service. The Meeting called for more joint efforts by countries to enhance patient-centered international cooperation, addressing the threat of cancer to human health.
