CCIEE Holds 19th Monthly Economic Talk

On January 26, 2011, CCIEE held its 19th Monthly Economic Talk in Beijing, under the theme of China-US Economic and Trade Relations. Wei Jianguo, Secretary General of CCIEE, chaired the meeting.

       

Sun Zhenyu, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, and Ambassador and Permanent Representative of China to the WTO. Zhou Shijian, Researcher of Tsinghua University, and Deputy Director of the Institute of International Trade at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. Robert Poole, Vice President of the United States-China Business Council, and Mark Norbom, President and CEO of GE, Greater China, delivered speeches on the barriers of China-US economic and trade relations, the origin of US trade deficit and problems with the trade statistical method, the development of US companies in China and the prospects of Chinese companies’ investment in the US.

At the end of their speeches, the speakers answered various questions from the audiences. Also at the meeting were staff of the research and information departments, managers of the CCIEE member companies, journalists and scholars of research institutes.
