  • Time:2011-02-24

On January 14, 2011, CCIEE held CFIERE (China Foundation for International Economic Research and Exchanges) 2nd meeting of the first board of directors. Zeng Peiyan, Chairman of the foundation, delivered an important speech. Also at the meeting were, Zheng Xinli, Permanent Vice Chairman of CCIEE, all the Directors, Executive Vice Chairmen and the candidates for CCIEE board of directors. Wei Jianguo, Secretary General of CCIEE, chaired the meeting.

Zheng Xinli gave a report on the completed research projects sponsored by CFIERE in 2009 and 2010 Research Plan. Zhang Xiaochong, Deputy Secretary General of CCIEE, gave a report on the fund-raising process of CFIERE, expenditure for research projects carried out in 2009, sponsorship plan for research projects in 2010 and budget for management fees. The following three proposals were passed at the meeting, namely, CFIERE 2010 Research Projects Sponsorship Plan, CFIERE 2010 Administration Fees Budget Plan and the Enlarged list of CFIERE Executive Vice Chairmen, Vice Chairmen and Directors.

In Zeng Peiyan’s speech, he noted that the CFIERE is the corner stone of CCIEE’s research. The way of supporting research through the CFIERE by Chinese enterprises, can be seen as a mechanism innovation and as contribution to our society made by our board of directors and council units. Their sense of responsibility reflects their long term perspective on the development of public welfare and economy. Also, he said that the fund needs to preserve and increase its value, its financial operation must be transparent and its management must be prudential. The use of the fund has to be rational and effective. The board of directors is the decision making and governing organ and therefore, their opinions should be given serious consideration in terms of choosing research projects, program planning and the exchange of research findings. Furthermore, the foundation should accept the management and supervision of the council units. The research achievement is inseparable from the directors and council units, as they have made significant contribution to the establishment and operation of the fund. Thus, we appreciate their help and hope they will continue to support CCIEE’s research projects vigorously in the future.
