CCIEE Organizes Interview with Dr. Henry Kissinger for Media
- Time:2011-08-10
On June 25th 2011, Dr. Henry Kissinger, former U.S. Secretary of State, who was attending the Second Global Think Tank Summit, accepted the joint interview by CCTV, the Globalization Magazine, China National Radio, China Business News, Outlook Weekly and China Net. In his interview, Dr. Kissinger answered questions relating to Sino-U.S. relations, trend of economic globalization and so forth.
Dr. Kissinger believed that if China and the U.S. conflict with each other, it will undoubtedly put other nations into difficult position and hence leads to global confrontation, and eventually both sides will suffer. Therefore, only if China and the U.S. cooperate with each other, can they realize co-existence and win-win outcome. Presently, new issues like environment protection, climate changes, nuclear proliferation and terrorism cannot be resolved without global cooperation, which further emphasize the necessity of Sino-U.S. cooperation. The biggest challenge now facing China and the U.S. is how to develop a reciprocal mutual relationship and effectively manage mutual divergence through diplomatic measures. Due to the irresponsible exaggeration of some media, the American people are concerned about China’s rise and believe that the Sino-U.S. relations will unavoidably end up with conflict. To resolve that problem, China and the U.S. should look for cooperation opportunities to resolve their problems. By doing so, they will be able to make the people of both nations understand the benefits of Sino-U.S. cooperation and integration, change their prejudice, eliminate their concern and promote a stable and healthy Sino-U.S. relations.
The interview was organized by CCIEE and chaired by Chen Yongjie, Deputy Secretary General of CCIEE, chaired the interview.
