CCIEE Holds Global Think Tank Summit in Beijing

  On the evening of July 2, 2009, the Global Think Tank Summit, which was organized by China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), held its grand opening ceremony at China World Hotel, Beijing. Vice Premier Li Keqiang attended the meeting and delivered a keynote speech. Also at the opening ceremony were former president of the European Commission, former Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi, former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, founder of Grameen Bank, Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, President of Brookings Institute John Thornton.
  More than 900 representatives from more than 60 countries attended the opening ceremony, including foreign dignitaries, former politicians, government officials, diplomatic envoys, as well as 150 representatives from international organizations such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the United Nations, the UNCTAD and the World Intellectual Property Organization. Half of the guests were Nobel laureates in economics, representatives from well-known think-tanks at home and abroad, experts and scholars. About 200 representatives from the world's Top 500 enterprises and 150 Chinese and foreign media representatives also participated in the event.
  During the two-day summit, participants will have in-depth discussions of the summit's theme, "Sharing human wisdom, Seeking global development", and explore solutions for the current financial crisis.
