CCIEE Chairman Meets with Rockefeller Foundation Delegation

On the morning of March 23, 2010, Zeng Peiyan, Chairman of CCIEE, met with Steven Rockefeller, Chairman and CEO of Rose Capital of the Rockefeller Foundation. Zheng Xinli, Permanent Vice Chairman of CCIEE, along with other staff, attended the meeting.

         

Mr. Zeng said that China is now focusing on urbanization, development of central and western regions, construction of new rural areas, green energy and energy conservation, and emission reduction strategy, which calls for enormous investment in urban and rural infrastructure, healthcare services, education, and transportation. As a result, there are huge markets in these fields, and China welcomes foreign capital, technology, and resources. He also pointed out that the Rockefeller Foundation can use its own experience and its prestige in the U.S. to play a positive role in attracting American companies to invest in China. Besides, it can also directly participate in China’s urban & rural economic development as a strategic investment partner. Finally, Zeng said that if the Rockfeller Foundation or other American companies want to learn more about China’s social and conomic conditions as well as its enterprises, CCIEE is willing to offer consulting services. He hoped that the two sides can jointly make contributions to tSino-U.S economic exchanges.

Mr. Rockefeller said that the Foundation is willing to invest in China, given the long history of friendship between China and the Foundation. He hoped to find suitable Chinese partners, through which American capital, technology and managerial expertise will be brought to China, so as to assist China’s energy development, infrastructure construction, and other aspects of economic development.
