- Time:2009-10-31
On October 31, 2009, Wei Jianguo, Secretary General of CCIEE, attended the 67th International Forum on China Reform, hosted by the China Institute of Reform (Hai'nan). The theme of this year's forum is "Emerging Economies in the Post-crisis Period: New Challenges, New roles, and New Models."
Wei delivered a speech at the opening ceremony entitled "The Opportunities and Challenges Faced by Emerging Economies in the Post-crisis Period." He pointed out that emerging economies will play an increasingly important role: they will lead the global economic recovery, enhance their say in economic issues, and strengthen regional cooperation among themselves. In the post-crisis era, emerging economies will face a new round of economic transitions; changing global savings and consumption patterns will facilitate emerging economies to expand domestic consumption; the industrial structure will also face a major adjustment which will lead to corresponding structural adjustments in emerging economies; and changes in the international financial order will foster financial reform in emerging economies.
More than 300 scholars and experts from home and from Russia, India, Brazil and other emerging economies attended the forum.
