On May 14, at CCIEE, Vice Chairman Wei Jianguo met with a delegation of CEOs of global medical device manufacturers, which was led by Mr. Stephen J. Ubl, President and CEO of AdvaDed. Both parties exchanged minds on the current development of China’s healthcare service industry, the US experience in this industry, challenges faced by AdvaDed in China, and China’s construction and development of healthy cities. Also present at the meeting were, among others, Han Yihu, General Manager of China Economic Consulting Corporation; Xu Chaoyou, Director General of External Affairs Department of CCIEE; Dr. Chen Wei, Deputy Director of the Industrial Planning Department of CCIEE; Ralph Ives, Executive Vice President of the Global Strategy Analysis Department, AdvaDed; and Jiao Ling, Chief Representative in China, AdvaDed.

Mr. Wei Jianguo briefed his guests on the current development of China’s healthcare service industry. According to him, the current problems lie mainly in an aging population and insufficient healthcare facilities. China is speeding up the urbanization drive, which is underpinned greatly by healthcare services. However, the vast rural areas of China are still lagging behind in terms of healthcare facilities and services. The AdvaDed shall avail itself of this opportunity to vigorously develop healthcare devices and realize a strategic industrial layout in China.

Mr. Stephen Ubl then gave some basic ideas about AdvaDed and looked forward to enhancing AdvaDed’s presence in China. Also, he pointed out the difficulties with product review, and wished to strengthen exchange and cooperation with CCIEE. Mr. Wei thus put forward specific suggestions, and expressed that CCIEE is more than willing to help AdvaDed solve all problems and difficulties in accessing the Chinese market and make contributions to China’s urbanization drive and social development.

Mr. Han Yihu and Mr. Chen Wei then introduced the cooperation between German medical device manufacturers and local governments of China, as well as the planning and development of healthy cities in China. They looked forward to joining hands with AdvaDed for mutual benefits and success.
