Executive Vice President Charles McLane Jr. of Alcoa Inc. Visits CCIEE

On June 7, 2010, Wei Jianguo, Secretary General of CCIEE, met with Charles McLane Jr., Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Alcoa Inc. Also at the meeting were Chen Jinya, President of Alcoa Asia Pacific and Alcoa China, Vanessa Lau, Chief Financial Officer of Global Rolled Products, Shauna Huang, Vice President of Alcoa China, Zhang Xiaochong, Deputy Secretary General of CCIEE and Xu Chaoyou, Deputy Director General of the Department of External Affairs of CCIEE.
Mr. McLane appreciated Mr. Wei’s support and encouragement for Alcoa’s business development in China, and totally agreed with the Macro macroeconomic regulatory which the Chinese government has taken in order to prevent inflation and a bubble economy. Although its business is highly energy-intensive in nature, Alcoa has long valued environment protection and sticked to sustainable development by improving production and processing technologies continuously, making sure the goals of low energy consumption and low carbon emission can be reached. Presently, Alcoa is actively expanding its consumer electronics and mobile phone components business. It will keep pace with the policies promoted by the Chinese government, bring high-tech products into China and help Chinese companies upgrade their technologies. Mr. McLane expressed that, Alcoa is willing to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with CCIEE and help Chinese companies go abroad to expand their business.
Mr. Wei spoke highly of Alcoa’s longtime contributions to China-US friendship and cooperation in the fields of trade, economy and high-technology. He is certain that Alcoa is not only a profit-making organization, but also puts greater emphasis on corporate social responsibilities and environment protection.
