Former Deputy Director of the National Bureau of Statistics Xu Xianchun Delivers a Presentation on China’s New Economy

On October 25, 2019, Mr. Xu Xianchun, former deputy director of the National Bureau of Statistics, director of the China Data Center of Tsinghua University, and professor of the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, was invited by CCIEE research team to deliver a speech entitled “China’s New Economy: Role, Feature and Challenge”. Wang Xiaohong, deputy director of the Information Department of CCIEE, chaired the meeting and expressed sincere appreciation to Professor Xu Xianchun on behalf of the research team.

Based on extensive field investigations, Xu Xianchun explained the prominent role played by China’s new economy in the current economic growth. He believed that enterprises have grown rapidly and are full of vitality; the digital technology-based infrastructure has become a new digital asset that can reduce costs and resource consumption, increase employment, improve welfare, create new wealth, and promote high-quality economic development. In order to develop the new economy, we need to reduce taxes and fees, improve related policies, train personnel, and speed up the construction of digital infrastructure. At the same time, we must strengthen research and classified statistics for the new economy, improve supervision, and implement precise policies.
