Wei Jianguo Delivers a Keynote Speech at the G20 Bridge Forum

As invited by Korean government, Mr. Wei Jianguo, Secretary General of CCIEE, attended the G20 Bridge Forum and delivered a keynote speech entitled “Strengthening Cooperation & Jointly Promoting Development in Africa” to participants from Korea, the US and Africa. In his speech, he introduced the current Africa-China relations characterized by mutual respect and benefit and equality, and the further development of such relations in various fields in the future. He proposed strong cooperation among the participating countries. Besides, he also said developed countries and emerging economies should work together to advance development in African economies, and appealed think tanks of different nations to play a greater role in this process.

       

During the forum, Mr. Wei met with Mr. Gilbert, Vice President of Uganda. Mr. Gilbert thanked China for its sincere help and contribution to the economic development of Uganda. Mr. Wei introduced CCIEE and suggested that think tanks in China and Africa should strengthen cooperation to promote healthy and rapid development in Africa-China economic and trade relations.

Mr. Wei also had conversations with leaders of some Korean organizations such as Mr. Park Dae-won, President of Korean International Cooperation Agency, Yoon –Dae Euh, Chairman of KB Financial Group, Vice Chairman of LG Group, Mr. Pal-seung Lee, Chairman of Woori Finance Holdings. They discussed the prospect of Korea-China economic and trade relations. Mr. Wei said CCIEE can act as a good platform to establish cooperation between Chinese and Korean companies through conducting seminars, projects and so forth.

Also at the meeting were staff from the Research Department of CCIEE and the Chinese Embassy to Korea.
