Wei Jianguo Meets Committee of 100 Delegation

On December 7, 2010, Wei Jianguo, Secretary General of CCIEE, met with the Committee of 100 Delegation led by Dominic Ng, Chairman of the East West bank. The delegation consists of 17 members. Also at the meeting were Xu Chaoyou, Deputy General-Director of the Department of External Affairs and Han Yihu, Deputy Director-General of the Consulting Department of CCIEE.
Wei Jianguo introduced CCIEE’s basic functions, current development and its exchanges and cooperation with major international think tanks. Also, he spoke highly of the years’ efforts which the Committee of 100 has put on promoting friendly exchanges between American and Chinese people. He pointed out that the current Sino-US relations maintain a stable development, however, some disharmonious voices also coexist. He hoped that the Committee of 100 could exercise its influence to guide the American society to look at the Sino-US relations properly, and to make greater contribution to promote reciprocal and win-win economic and trade relations between the two countries.
Dominic Ng thanked CCIEE for its hospitality and briefly introduced the Committee of 100 and the purpose of its trip to China. He said that the Committee is committed to strengthening mutual understanding between the American and Chinese people, trying to help the US understand the developing China in the aspects such as economy, culture and politics, and offering assistance to healthy development of the Sino-US relations. Also, he said that the American-Chinese are so proud of China’s development and willing to make efforts to promote Sino-US cooperation.
The delegates indicated that the facing Chinese enterprises are faced with many problems with going global. They hoped that CCIEE could use its academic and personnel resources and advantages to assist Chinese enterprises expand their business abroad. Furthermore, the delegates proposed to provide the American people with richer and practical programs about China through internet and video, so that they can understand China better.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues like trade deficit and globalization, and expressed their wishes to further strengthen communication and contact.
