Wei Jianguo Meets With Osama Tanaka of the Policy Research Institute

On the morning of February 22^nd, 2011, Mr. Wei Jianguo, Secretary General of CCIEE, met with Dr. Osama Tanaka, Executive Vice President of the Policy Research Institute, Ministry of Finance of the Japanese Government. Also at the meeting were Mr. Makoto KATO, Senior Advisor, Office of the International Research and Cooperation Policy Research Institute, Mr. Satoru Shibata, Counselor of the Financial and Economic Affairs, Embassy of Japan, Mr. Niu Tiehang, Editor-in-chief of the Globalization magazine.

Dr. Tanaka thanked Mr. Wei for the meeting and introduced the Policy Research Institute. He said that the Policy Research Institute is attached to the Ministry of Finance. It attaches great importance to research on China and has already established exchanges and cooperation with many Chinese research institutes. He hoped to conduct academic exchanges with CCIEE.   

Mr. Wei welcomed Mr. Kato and his colleagues. He said that the Policy Research Institute is a prestigious Japanese research institute. CCIEE is willing to conduct exchanges and cooperation with the institute and jointly establish a new cooperative model for research institutes. At the end, Mr. Wei made specific proposals on personnel exchanges, information sharing and research cooperation with the institute.

Both sides agreed to keep close contact and begin cooperation as soon as possible.
