CCIEE Permanent Vice Chairman Meets with The President of Duke Energy

On March 28th 2011, Mr. Zheng Xinli, Permanent Vice Chairman of CCIEE, met with Mr. James Rogers, Chairman and President of Duke Energy. They exchanged views on promoting Chinese enterprises to go global. Also at the meeting were Mr. David Mohler, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Duke Energy, Ms. Lu Yun, Country Director (China) of Duke Energy, Mr. Cai Xiaofeng, Vice Chairman and board member of the CEconsulting Co., Ltd.

       

Mr. Zheng was briefed on the development history of Duke Energy, energy supply structure, the overall costs level, technologies and equipments, personnel and its development plan in China. After that, Mr. Zheng introduced the perspective of energy development in the “12th Five-Year Plan”.

Mr. Rogers answered questions put by Mr. Zheng and explained the company’s well-defined strategies. Firstly, promote energy development by working with other leading global companies. Secondly, form joint-venture with Chinese companies and restructure energy infrastructure in North and South America. Thirdly, establish contact with Chinese financial institutions. Last but not least, cooperate with Chinese companies and help them to invest in the US, especially in the six states served by the company.    

Mr. Rogers said China’s demand for more energy and relevant equipments has grown rapidly. As for the US, although it has achieved electrification but the equipments are rather old and need to be upgraded. In other words, China and the US have the same problems. He pointed out there is great cooperation potential between China and the US energy companies and Duke Energy is willing to cooperate with CCIEE whenever the opportunity occurs.  

Mr. Zheng said that helping Chinese companies to go global is one of CCIEE’s main functions and hence, CCIEE has established the CEconsulting Co., Ltd. With other shareholders such as China Development Bank, the company is committed to help Chinese enterprises to go global and bridge cooperation between Chinese and foreign companies.

Mr. Rogers said that Duke Energy sent representatives to attend the Global Think Tank Summit in 2009, and it will actively participate in other activities held by CCIEE in the future.
