Chairman ZengPeiyan Attends the 2nd US-China CEO and Former Senior Officials’ Dialogue

From November 14th to 20th, CCIEE Chairman ZengPeiyan visited the United States and widely engaged with personages of various circles. CCIEE Executive Vice Chairman Wang Chunzheng, Secretary-General Wei Jianguo, Chief Economist Chen Wenling were also on the visit.
From 15th to 16th, Chairman Zeng attended the 2nd US-China CEO and Former Senior Officials’ Dialogue in Washington, and delivered opening remarks. 15 delegates on each side participated in the Dialogue, and had candid and in-depth exchange of views on the state of global economy, US and China economic rebalancing, US and China investment environment. US Secretary of Commerce John Bryson and Secretary of Treasury Timothy Geithner participated in specific events of the Dialogue.
On 18th, Chairman Zengaddressed theluncheon hosted by China International Capital Corporation (CICC) and themed with “US-China Trade &Economic Cooperation Outlook”. Former AIG Chairman Hank Greenberg, KKR Founder Henry Kravis, NASDAQ Chairwoman Merit Janow, Alcoa Chairman Klaus Kleinfeld, along with other business leaders participated in the luncheon.
On 18th evening, Chairman Zeng attended 2011 Annual Conference of China General Chamber of Commerce-U.S.A. He presented the Outstanding Contribution Awards of US-China Exchanges to Former AIG Chairman Hank Greenberg, Former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, Former Vice Minister of Commerce of China Madam Ma Xiuhong and COSCO Chairman Wei Jiafu.
On 19th, Chairman Zeng met with US Former Secretary of State, Dr. Henry Kissinger. Both exchanged views on global economic outlook and US-China relations, and agreed to strengthen cooperation between CCIEE and Kissinger Associates.
Chinese Ambassador to the US Zhang Yesui, Ambassador to the UN Li Baodong, Consul General in New York Sun Guoxiangattended those events.
During stay in the US, the Chinese delegates met with Congress US-China Working Group Co-chair Rick Larsen, Congress Joint Economic Committee Chairman Robert Casey, Under Secretary of Commerce Francisco Sanchez, US-China Business Council President John Frisbie, National Committee on US-China Relations President Stephen Orlins, Council on Foreign Relations President Richard Haass, Carnegie Endowment International Economics Program Director Uri Dadush, and held roundtable discussions with research fellows of the Brookings John Thorton China Center.
The US-China CEO and Former Senior Officials’ Dialogue is co-hosted by CCIEE and US Chamber of Commerce. It aims to promote mutual understanding and cooperation among US-China business leaders, and to play constructive role in the robust and stable development of US-China economic relations. The 1st round dialogue was held in mid-March of 2011.
