CCIEE Chairman Meets with IBM Chairman
On March 20, 2012, Mr. Zeng Peiyan, Chairman of China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), met with Mr. Samuel Palmisano, Chairman of IBM, at ZhongNanHai, Beijing. Also at the meeting were Mr. Wei Jianguo, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CCIEE, and senior managers of IBM.
Mr. Zeng Peiyan introduced CCIEE’s background and its major functions, and appreciated the corporate responsibility IBM has taken after entering Chinese market. He pointed out that there are still some misunderstanding and divergence in the U.S.-China economic relation, and hoped that they can be resolved quickly with efforts from both nations.
Mr. Palmisano spoke highly of China’s remarkable economic progress. He said that China walked out of the 2008 world economic crisis with pragmatic and effective measures, which played a critical role in leading the world to get rid of the economic crisis. Furthermore, he introduced the experience that IBM has accumulated over the past 50 years, especially its significant success in the aspect of cooperation and exchanges among international corporations. Finally, he indicated that the two sides could help to clear misunderstanding and divergence between the U.S. and China by promoting exchanges between Chinese and American corporations, think tanks and academic institutions.
The two sides agreed to keep contact and discuss further cooperation, so as to make their proposals implementable.
