CCIEE Chairman Meets with the Paulson Institute Chairman

On March 27, 2012, Mr. Zeng Peiyan, Chairman of China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), met with Mr. Henry Paulson, Chairman of the Paulson Institute at the University of Chicago and former U.S. treasurer, at Zhongnanhai in Beijing. Mr. Wang Chunzheng, Executive Vice-Chairman of CCIEE, was also at the meeting.

          

Mr. Zeng Peiyan said that the conference of Urban Sustainability in Modern China co-hosted by CCIEE and the Paulson Institute has had great influence, and the two organizations could deepen their cooperation on this subject. Currently, the project team is working on various tasks to ensure that the pilot project can be implemented before the end of this year. Cities near Beijing such as Tianjin and Hebei could be selected for the project. It will be convenient for the development, implementation and management. Mr. Zeng also pointed out that communication can now be established with local governments at working level.  

Mr. Paulson are pleased with the cooperation between the two organizations and agreed with Mr. Zeng about the city selection. He said that due to some one-off factors, the current U.S. economy is doing well, but reform remains the final solution to restore America’s economy and competitiveness.

The two sides also exchanged views on issues like mutual investment and economic trend in China and the U.S.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Wang Chunzheng, Executive Vice-Chairman of CCIEE, and Chairman Henry Paulson signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) on behalf of the organizations.
