On April 18, 2012, Mr. Zheng Xinli, Permanent Vice-Chairman of China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), met with H.E. Mr. Sandor Zoltan Kusai, Hungarian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to China. Also at the meeting were Mr. Chen Yongjie, deputy decretary-general, Mr. Xu Chaoyou, deputy director-general of CCIEE, and Mr. Miklos Zseli, First Secretary of Hungarian Embassy in China.

Ambassador Sandor said that the China-Hungary relationship is now in the best period and enjoys the fastest development. The leaders of the two nations keep frequent contact and the bilateral economic relation has achieved great progress. Hungary is very interested in developing its economy with Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), especially that from China. The Hungarian government has appointed the Minister of National Economy as the Commissioner of the Chinese Economic Affairs Department, which consists of 16 people. He also listed Hungary’s advantages in attracting China’s investment, such as low labor cost, locational advantage, great infrastructure and natural condition for agriculture. Currently, the major problem facing Hungary is the lack of fund and technology. It is particularly urgent in the fields of transportation, pipeline and agriculture. Cooperation in these fields will enable China and Hungary to achieve a win-win outcome. Ambassador Sandor hopes that CCIEE will play an active role in this regard.

Mr. Zheng briefly introduced CCIEE, its consulting company, and their successful practices in providing some nations with industrial development planning suggestions and consultations in attracting FDI. He said that China and Hungary have complementary advantages and great potential in terms of economic development and bilateral trade relationship. Hungary is located between eastern Europe and western Europe and thus, Chinese enterprises could take this advantage to break into the markets in western Europe and Russia. Hungary has a relatively low labor cost, China’s investment will help with its employment market and raise local salary. China is a huge market with abundant capitals, strengthening the cooperation with Hungary will not only diversify China’s investment channel, but also help Hungary to cultivate a bigger market in China. The win-win outcome will be achieved eventually. CCIEE and its consulting company are willing to play a constructive role in promoting China-Hungary investment. At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to keep close contact on specific projects.
