CCIEE Signs Strategic Cooperation Agreement with China Daily

On 25^th April, 2012, China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China Daily in Beijing. Meanwhile, the newly recruited guest economists were given the letter of appointment by China Daily at the signing ceremony. Based on the principles of friendly cooperation, reciprocity and mutual benefits as well as common development, CCIEE and China Daily will establish a long-term partnership in many aspects. CCIEE Permanent Vice-Chairman Mr. Zheng Xinli, Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General Mr. Wei Jianguo, and China Daily Editor-in-Chief Mr. Zhu Ling attended the signing ceremony.

Mr. Zheng Xinli addressed the signing ceremony, saying that this is CCIEE’s very first cooperation with a news agency. The cooperation between CCIEE and China Daily will help the two organizations to complement each other’s advantages and promulgate China’s mainstream voice to the world. Furthermore, he said that the two sides will cooperate closely and actively on global exchanges, so as to enhance china’s say in international affairs and global governance, as well as create a better environment for international development.  

In his address, Mr. Zhu Ling, said that China Daily is the nation’s preeminent English daily and CCIEE is China’s top think tank. Both of them are great pioneers and innovators in their own fields. They are mainstream organizations with an global view and authoritative voice. The cooperation between CCIEE and China Daily will set a good example for other mainstream media and think tanks, and play a leading role in enhancing China’s soft power in the international community.

Mr. Wei Jiangu and Mr. Kang Bing, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China Daily, signed the strategic cooperation agreement. According to the agreement, the two sides will keep abreast of the global economic development trend, be alert to the requirement of domestic economic development, and combine the resource of prestigious think tanks with the advantage of international media channel, so as to realize the cooperation in news reporting, branding and so forth. As an important part of the strategic cooperation, CCIEE and China Daily will jointly gather a team of guest economists to enhance their international influence, advanced by China Daily’s preponderance in domestic and international reporting.

As the representative of the newly appointed guest economists of China Daily, Mr. Han Wenke, Director of the Energy Research Division, Institute of Macroeconomic Research under the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), congratulated on the strategic cooperation between CCIEE and China Daily. He appreciated the two organizations for establishing a new platform to disseminate Chinese economists’ voice.

CCIEE and China Daily have a solid foundation for cooperation. In the 7^th Beijing-Tokyo Forum held in Beijing in 2011, the two organizations jointly sponsored the economic sessions for domestic and foreign think tanks, which effectively promoted exchanges between Chinese and Japanese economists.
