Wei Jianguo Meets with U.S. Special Representative for Global Intergovernmental Affairs

On May 2, 2012, Mr. Weijianguo, Vice-Chairman and Secretary General of China Center for International Economic Exchanes (CCIEE), met with Ms. Reta Lewis, Special Representative for Global Intergovernmental Affairs, U.S. Department of State. Also at the meeting were Mr. Xu Chaoyou, Director-General of the Department of External Affairs, and Mr. Zhang Yongjun, Deputy Director-General of the Research Department of CCIEE.

Ms. Lewis explained that her main responsibility is to promote exchanges and cooperation, and facilitate trade and investment between the U.S. and other countries at state/provincial level. China and the U.S. have experienced rapid development in this regard, and the potential is huge. Apart from participating in the 4^th U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue, she will also visit the northeast region of China in the hope to propel the cooperation between this region and the northeast region of the U.S. She also hopes that CCIEE can play an important role in promoting cooperation at provincial-level between the U.S. and China.

Mr. Wei briefly introduced CCIE and expressed his willingness to help to promote contact and cooperation between China’s provinces and America’s states, so as to facilitate further development of the win-win relationship between China and the U.S.
