Zeng Peiyan Meets with ROK Ambassador to China, Lee Kyu-hyung

On June 5 2012, Mr. Zeng Peiyan, Chairman of China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), met with Mr. Lee Kyu-hyung, ROK Ambassador to China. Also at the meeting were Mr. Wei Jianguo, Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General of CCIEE, and Yong-rok Cheong, Minister Counselor of the Korean Embassy. 

Mr. Zeng thanked Ambassador Lee Kyu-hyung for the warm reception he received during his tour in Seoul for the Northeast Asia Trilateral Forum and the High-Level Forum on China-ROK Economic Cooperation and Outlook last April. He pointed out that China and ROK have achieved great success in economic and trade cooperation, and the launch of the China-Korea FTA negotiation has great significance to both nations. The two nations should strive to build a FTA of higher level. Moreover, Mr. Zeng gave his views on global economy and China’s economic situation.

Ambassador Lee Kyu-hyung thanked Mr. Zeng for the keynote speech he made at the China-ROK Economic Cooperation Forum. He said that China, Japan and Korea should initiate the FTA negotiation quickly. The FTA negotiation between China and Korea will benefit both nations for sure and thus, Korea will make great efforts to promote the establishment of China-Korea Free Trade Area. He hopes that the negotiation can be completed soon. Apart from that, Korea will further improve its environment by promoting free trade and facilitating investment, so as to draw in Chinese companies to invest in Korea. In the future, Korea will also continue to encourage its companies to invest directly in China.
