Zeng Peiyan Meets With Bertelsmann Chairwoman Ms. Liz Mohn

On June 5, 2012, Mr. Zeng Peiyan, Chairman of China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), met with Ms. Liz Mohn, Chairwoman of the Board of the Bertelsmann and Vice-Chairwoman of the Executive Board of Bertelsmann Foundation. Also at the meeting were Mr. Zheng Xinli, Permanent Vice-Chairman of CCIEE and Mr. Aart Jan De Geus, member of the Executive Board of the Bertelsmann Foundation.

Mr. Zeng said that as a well-known international think tank, Bertelsmann Foundation has conducted fruitful cooperation with CCIEE over the past three years. For instance, the two organizations have undertaken joint researches on global economic governance, international monetary system reform, and China’s direct investments to the US and Europe. Furthermore, they also successfully convened some influential international conferences and have achieved great results.

Ms. Mohn and Mr. Geus gave a comprehensive introduction of the Bertelsmann Foundation and its Asian Strategies, including the Global Transformation Development Index, the establishment of Non-Profitable International Credit Rating Agency, and research project on China’s direct investments. Furthermore, they pointed out that Asia, especially China, plays a very important role in globalization. The Bertelsmann Foundation will devote itself to promoting mutual understanding and exchanges between Asia and Europe.

In the end, the two sides agreed to conduct further cooperation and exchanges on issues of mutual interests.
