CCIEE Vice Chairman Wei Jianguo Meets with Microsoft’s Vice President Ralph Haupter

On September 28, 2012, CCIEE Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Wei Jianguo, met with Ralph Haupter, Corporate Vice President, Chairman and CEO for Greater China Region, Microsoft. Also presented were Mr. Xu Chaoyou, Director General of the Department of External Affairs at CCIEE, Han Yihu, General Manager of China Economic Consulting Corporation, Rich Sauer, Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Legal and Regulatory Affairs and David S. Chen, Vice President, General Manager of LCA, Greater China Region and Legal and Corporate Affairs Department at Micerosoft.

Ralph Haupter said he was greatly impressed by how fast China’s economy grows and the Chinese government’s continuing efforts to both adjust and upgrade its industrial structure. Microsoft is fully confident with the Chinese market and will invest more in China on developing software so as to play its part in driving up the economy. Microsoft aims to fill three tasks in the offing. It will continue to work on “Talent China”, the program that Microsoft has developed to nurture future talents for China’s SOEs and, to a larger extent, the Chinese economy. The company is also willing to help Chinese enterprises boost their competitiveness in the international market. The software giant is very interested in the progress of Chinese companies’ innovation work and would love to lend its experience in bolstering their innovative capacity and R&D capability.

Mr. Haupter also encourages corporate users to make full use of Microsoft products so as to maximize their benefits. Microsoft especially looks forward to its cooperation with CCIEE in IT training and thus cultivating young talents for Silicon Valley-like start-ups.

Mr. Wei appreciates the great contributions made by the U.S. company to China’s IT industry and spoke highly of the three proposals. He said, to multinational companies, the economic meltdown could also be a great opportunity. Even though the competition within the IT industry is getting fierce, Microsoft could win out by force of innovation. It can take full advantage of its bountiful resources and play an active role in talent training and innovation. CCIEE is willing to cooperate with Microsoft in this regard.
