Wang Chunzheng Meets with Myanmar’s Think Tank and NGO Delegation
On October 30, 2012, Mr. Wang Chunzheng, Executive Vice Chairman of CCIEE, met with the Burmese think tanks and NGO delegation led by Mr. ko ko Hlaing, senior political advisor of Myanmar’s president, CEO and Chairman of the Center for Strategic and International Research of Myanmar Institute of Development Resources.
On behalf of CCIEE and its Chairman Zeng Peiyan, Mr. Wang extended his warm welcome to all the delegates, and introduced the structure, functions, main activities and the young researchers of CCIEE.
Mr. Hlaing and other delegates said that China’s reform and opening-up over the past 30 years has afforded a successful path of economic development. The Burmese government is undertaking a top-down reform of the current economic system and hopes to that it can borrow China’s experience on economic and social development.
Mr. Wang briefed the Burmese guests on the status quo and trend of China’s economy. He pointed out that the Chinese economy has already been integrated into the world economy and is faced with some difficulties induced by the 2008 financial crisis. China is now making effort to speed up its transformation of economic development mode and promote domestic consumption. Although China’s level of urbanization is relatively low and its industrialization lags behind developed nations, there is a great scope for development thanks to the huge pent-up in demand for investment and consumption.
Finally, Mr. Wang indicated that China and Myanmar are friendly neighbors and have strong economic complementarity. The two countries should continue to deepen cooperation so as to achieve win-win outcomes.
