CCIEE Chairman Meets With the CEO of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts
On October 23, 2012, Mr. Zeng Peiyan, Chairman of CCIEE, met with Mr. Henry Kravis, Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR, a US private equity firm).
Mr. Kravis briefed Chairman Zeng on the hostory of KKR, its operations in China and around the global. He said that KKR is very familiar with the American market and its regulation, and is willing to help Chinese enterprises and funds to enter the US market. Chairman Zeng welcomes KKR to expand its business in China continuously, pointing out that Chinese companies have started to go abroad gradually and positively seeking investment opportunity over recent years due to the need of their development, but have encountered some problems. The so-called security-check on Chinese enterprises by the US, Europe, Australia and other nations has deterred many commercial projects. Chinese enterprises’ investment in the big US market will benefit both sides, he hopes that KKR can help Chinese comprise to invest in the US.
Chairmand Zeng introduced the current situation of China’s economy and its trend, saying that China’s economic growth is indeed lower than previous estimation but remains stable. He is optimistic about the future of China’s economy and believes that it will be able to maintain a growth rate between 7% and 8% over the next 10 to 15 years.
Chairman Zeng also briefed Mr. Kravin on the main functions of CCIEE, the events organized by CCIEE such as the Monthly Economic Talk, the China-US CEOs and Former Senior Officials’ Dialogue. Mr. Kravin said that KKR would like to strengthen cooperation and exchange with CCIEE and make joint effort to promote China-US trade and economic relations.
