CCIEE Chairman Meets with Australian Ambassador to China
On October 23, 2012, Mr. Zeng Peiyan, Chairman of CCIEE, met with Ms. Frances Adamson, Australian Ambassador to China. Also at the meeting was Mr. Wei Jianguo, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CCIEE.
Ambassador Adamson introduced the latest development of China-Australia relations, pointing out that the relations have developed rapidly and are at their best time in history. She thanked Chairman Zeng for his continuous interest and support for the development of China-Australia relations as well as the important role he has played. She would like to continue strengthening cooperation and exchange with CCIEE to further promote the development of China-Australia relations.
Chairman Zeng agreed with Ambassador Adamson’s views on the bilateral relations between China and Australia, and introduced the current situation of China’s economy and its trend. Regarding the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and Chinese enterprises’ investment in Australia, Chairman Zeng said that the two countries have close economic link and they should be a good model for complementary economic development. He hopes that the two countries can sign up the FTA at an early date, so as to benefit the economic development and cooperation between China and Australia. Apart from that, he pointed out that China’s government encourages Chinese enterprises to invest in Australia, and the enterprises themselves also have the need and enthusiasm to do so. He hopes that the Australian government can make some improvement in the procedure of project review and visa issuance, to facilitate Chinese enterprises to invest in Australia.
Ambassador Adamson said that Mr. Zeng’s introduction helped her better understand China’s economy and its direction of development, and also boost her confidence. She will give a comprehensive introduction on China to all circles of Australia after going back to Australia for consultation. She hopes to find a solution to get the China-Australia FTA signed early. Australian government welcome Chinese companies’ investment. The embassy will continue to communicate with Chinese enterprises and help them with the problems they face with their investment in Australia.
