Executive Vice Chairman Wang Chunzheng Met with IDF Chairman Dr. Vijay L. Kelkar

On November the 28th 2012, Executive Vice Chairman Wang Chunzheng of CCIEE met with Dr. Vijay L. Kelkar, Chairman of the India Development Foundation. Also at the meeting were Second Secretary Mr. Prasanna Shrivastava from the Embassy of India, Mr. Xu Chaoyou, Director General of Department of External Affairs and Mr. Zhang Yongjun, Deputy Director General of Department of Economic Research at CCIEE.

Mr. Kelkar said that IDF focuses on studies of multi-level governance and approaches of raising funds for urban infrastructure construction via better use of government land. The Chairman hopes to have a better understanding of power distribution between the central and local government in China. He also hopes to work with research fellows at CCIEE on issues regarding financial reform.

Mr. Wang Chunzheng briefed the Chairman on the history of relations between the central and local government over the past sixty years in China. He indicated that financial reform is a universal issue that concerns every country and comes with different solutions.  CCIEE and IDF could work together by conducting joint researches in this regard. 

Vice Chairman Wang also espoused on the policies and experience on land acquisition that China accrued in the process of urbanization.
