CCIEE Researchers Hold Talk with Director of Strategy and International Economy Department, Ministry of Finance, Germany

On May 2, 2013, CCIEE hosted the 6th Quarterly Talk. Dr. Ludger Schuknecht, Director of Strategy and International Economy Department, Ministry of Finance, Germany, had a discussion with CCIEE researchers on Sino-Germany economic and trade relations. Mr. Xu Chaoyou, Director-General of the External Affairs Department, CCIEE, presided over the talk. Ms. Chen Wenlin, Chief Economist of CCIEE, Mr. Zhang Yongjun, Deputy Director-General of CCIEE, Mr. Xu Hongcai, Director-General of Information Department, Ms. Frank Hartmann, First Counsellor of Germany Embassy in Beijing,  Ms. Heike Notman, Director of the Bilateral Affairs Division, Strategy and International Economy Department, Ministry of Finance, Germany attended the talk.

Dr. Schuknecht gave a brief introduction of the current economic development of Germany and Europe, Germany’s economic restructuring and social welfare system in the post European debt crisis era. Ms. Chen Wenlin talked about China’s economic achievement and the challenges facing China’s future development. At the end, the two sides had an in-depth discussion on the aging of population, multi-lateral free trade zone, imbalanced Sino-Germany trade and other issues.
