2013 Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs’ Summit Concluded in Naijing
On November 5, the 2013 Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs’ Summit was wrapped up in Najing, east of China. At the closing ceremony, the Summit released a Joint Initiative, which urges cross-strait entrepreneurs to jointly achieve greater progress in promoting cross-strait economic cooperation, enhance the overall strength of Chinese economy and continuously consolidate the economic foundation of the cross-strait relationship and peaceful development. Mr. Zeng Peiyan and Mr. Hsian Wan-chang, Chairmen of the Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs’ Summit, addressed the closing ceremony. Mr. Sheng Huaren and Mr. Chiang Pin-Kung, Vice-Chairmen of the summit, made closing remarks.
Under the theme of New Pattern of Cross-Strait Industrial Cooperation: Challenges and Solutions, the one-and-half-day summit prepared seven topics such as Cross-Strait Economic Transformation and Industrial Cooperation for more than 600 entrepreneurs and leaders of important industrial and commercial organizations to discuss. Seven cooperation-promoting groups hosted their special topic forums to discuss a series of issues, such as the new path of cross-strait industrial cooperation, initiate the new pattern of cross-strait industrial cooperation, and promote full-scale cooperation in the value chain and supply chain.
Entrepreneurs of the summit made a number of proposals, including strengthen economic forecast and conduct macroeconomic policy dialogue at the summit, keep close communication with decision-making departments to reflect industries’ voice on time, integrate superior resources on both sides to achieve win-win development, expand the areas of industrial development and increase the level of cooperation, strengthen the dominant position of enterprises and heighten the responsibility of cross-strait entrepreneurs, facilitate two-way investment and make sure the outcome of the summit is implemented, increase cross-strait exchanges and perfect institution of the summit, establish a cross-strait common market and promote common prosperity.
During the summit, the seven cooperation-promoting groups and some enterprises from both sides signed 24 MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) and investment projects. The two sides agreed to hold the next cross-strait entrepreneurs summit in the second half of 2014 in Taipei.
