The Third China-Japan- Korea FTA Forum Was Held in Tokyo
On April 12, the Third China-Japan-Korea FTA Forum was co-hosted in Tokyo, Japan by China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), Japan-China Organization for Business, Academia and Government, and Korea International Trade Association. More than 100 officials, experts and scholars as well as business leaders conducted in-depth discussion on such issues as the negotiation of China-Japan-Korea FTA, east Asia’s development, environment industry development and China-Japan-Korea cooperation, and industrial restructuring and upgrading. Participants of the forum argued that the China-Japan-Korea FTA negotiation has entered into a critical stage and thus, the three nations should break through political obstacles, accelerate the negotiation, so as to promote economic integration in east Asia. Meanwhile, they called for strengthening industrial cooperation, especially in the fields of energy-conservation, environment protection and finance.
Xu Hongcai, Director of the Information Department of CCIEE, Fukukawa Shinji, the special advisor of Japan- China Organization for Business, Academia and Government and Choi Byung, Professor of the International Department of Ewha Woman’s University, delivered keynote speeches. Diplomats from the Chinese and Korean embassies to Japan, and the director of International Trade Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, addressed the forum. Bi Jiyao, President of the Institute of Foreign Economy Research under the NDRC (National Development and Reform Commission of China), Yuuji Kiyokawa, Chairman of Japan-China Organization for Business, Academia and Government, and Choi Byung, Professor of International Department of Ewha Woman’s University, made concluding remarks. The outcome of the forum will be submitted to the governments of the three nations to push forward the China-Japan-Korea FTA negotiation and economic integration in east Asia.
