CCIEE Holds Seventh Economic Discussion with Diplomats

On June 19, 2014, China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) held its seventh economic discussion with Ms. Catherine Webb, Economic Counselor and Mr. Henry Bell, First Secretary, of British Embassy in China. Mr. Xu Chaoyou, Director General of External Affairs Department chaired the discussion. Mr. Xu Hongcai, Director of Information Department, Mr. Niu Tiehang and Ms. Wang Xiaohong, Associate Chief Editors of Globalization magazine and other CCIEE research fellows were present.

British diplomats gave a brief introduction of current macro- economy situation and fiscal policy of the UK. They also had an in-depth discussion with CCIEE researchers on topics such as fiscal and financial policy of the UK, the trend of Euro-zone, macro-economy situation in China, restructuring of SOEs, RMB internationalization as well bilateral financial cooperation.

Both sides agreed to work together to strengthen exchanges and seek opportunities to conduct joint researches on bilateral economic and trade issues, so as to contribute wisdom to the development of China-UK economic partnership and comprehensive strategic partnership.
