CCIEE Holds Press Conference for 4th Global Think Tank Summit

On the morning of June 3, CCIEE held a press conference for the 4th Global Think Tank Summit. Mr. Wang Jun, Deputy Director of CCIEE Department of Information, presided over the press conference. Mr. Wei Jianguo, Vice Chair of CCIEE, introduced the theme and background of the Summit. Over 20 media attended, including Xinhua News Agency, China National Radio, CCTV, China Radio International, Guang Ming Daily, Outlook, No.1 Business Channel and China.org.cn.


Sponsored by CCIEE, the Summit is scheduled in Beijing on June 26-27, 2015. To be held in a year which marks the run-up to the 13th Five-Year Plan, the final spurt towards the UN Millennium Development Goals and World Climate Conference in Paris by the end of this year, the Summit echoes the call of General Secretary Xi Jinping for a new type of think tanks with Chinese characteristics. To give scope to the role of think tanks and support Chinese economy and diplomacy, the Summit, under the theme of Global Sustainable Development: New Path after 2015, will cover such topics as poverty alleviation, climate change, global governance and other sustainable development related issues, providing policy suggestions for sustainable development after 2015 and the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris at the end of the year.

 

The Summit consists of the opening ceremony, two featured forums and six thematic forums:

Featured Forum II: International Relations & Global Governance

Thematic Forum I: Inequality & Inclusive Growth

Thematic Forum II: International Financial Crisis & Sustainable Development

Thematic Forum III: Global Sustainable Development: Energy Reform

Thematic Forum IV: Global Sustainable Development: The Role of Think Tanks

Thematic Forum V: Global Sustainable Development: Brand Building

Thematic Forum VI: Global Sustainable Development: The Power of Market

Representatives from the government, enterprises, think tanks and institutes as well as experts from international organizations will be invited to share their insights. CCIEE will publish its latest research findings at the annual Summit.

At the press conference, Mr. Wei Jianguo took questions from the journalists and expressed his hope for ex-ante, on-going and ex-post coverage of the Summit in a creative way.
