CCIEE held the 2016 Spring Festival Reception in Beijing on the evening of 21 January 2016. Mr. Zhang Xiaoqiang briefed the participants on the major achievements of CCIEE in research and external exchanges in 2015. He noted that under the leadership of Chairman Zeng Peiyan, CCIEE, as a representative of well-established social think tanks, was officially selected as one of the first 25 Chinese think tanks to be designated as pilot high-end national think tanks. Continuing to play a positive role as an advisor to the government and people, CCIEE carried out more than 80 research projects in the past year; some of the research results have been translated into national strategies and major policies.
The Center further strengthened exchanges with think tanks, chambers of commerce and other institutions in many countries. It hosted the Fourth Global Think Tank Summit, the Seventh Annual China-US CEO and Former Senior Officials’ Dialogue and the First China-Japan CEO and Former Senior Officials’ Dialogue, and organized or co-organized the ASEM Industry Dialogue on Connectivity, the Seminar on the Vision and Actions for the “Belt and Road”, the Think Tank Forum on Silk Road Economic Belt, among others. It also carried out policy research on sustainable development together with the Paulson Institute of the United States, and conducted joint research with the Australian National University, the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations of France and UNDP. All these have yielded fruitful results.
Mr. Zhang Xiaoqiang pointed out that in the coming year, CCIEE will continue to conduct research on major issues and strategies at home and abroad, including the “13th Five-Year Plan”, supply-side reform, effective implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative and China-EU trade and economic relations, with a view to providing more policy options and quality advices. He also thanked all the foreign diplomatic missions and offices of international organizations in China for the great support they gave to CCIEE in the past year, noting that CCIEE will step up exchanges with them for better understanding and mutually beneficial cooperation, and make greater contributions to sustainable economic and social development and peace and progress of the world.
