The 2020 New Economy Forum was Held Online

On November 16, 2020, the 2020 New Economy Forum was held online under the theme of “Building a New Economy, Sharing an Inclusive Future”. The forum was co-hosted by China Center for International Economic Exchanges(CCIEE), Bloomberg, the International Institute for Strategic Studies, and Mandela Institute for Development Studies. Wang Qishan, China’s Vice-Chairman, delivered a keynote speech online at the opening ceremony.
Michael Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg Limited Partnership and Bloomberg Philanthropies, and former mayor of New York from 2002 to 2013, Dr. Henry Kissinger, former US Secretary of State and National Security Advisor, Zeng Peiyan, Chairman of China Center for International Economic Exchanges, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Henry Paulson, former US Secretary of Treasury and Chairman of the Paulson Foundation, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. More than 500 guests participated in the forum online, including former and current politicians, business leaders, experts and scholars from all over the world.
The forum was held from November 16th to 19th with five topics, finance, trade, cities, climate and health. Political and business leaders, experts and scholars will conduct in-depth exchanges around the five major themes, and discuss cooperation in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, tackling climate change, digital transformation and upgrading, and promoting sustainable and inclusive development of the global economy in the post-pandemic era.
Founded in 2018, the New Economy Forum aims to contribute wisdom to build a new economy and share an inclusive future. The Forum is held once a year and the first two sessions were held in Singapore and Beijing, discussing the severe challenges facing global development and how to find solutions together.
