Zhang Xiaoqiang Chairs the Symposium on Technology Research Direction under the Framework of Carbon Neutrality and Peaking Carbon Dioxide Emission

On June 24, CCIEE “dual carbon” research team organized a symposium themed Technology Research Direction under the Framework of Carbon Neutrality and Peaking Carbon Dioxide Emission. The discussion was chaired by Zhang Xiaoqiang, Excutive Vice Chairman and CEO of CCIEE, and attended by experts from Tsinghua University, State Power Investment Corporation, China National Petroleum Corporation, China Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute and CSSC Technology Research and Economy Development Institute.

Jing Chunmei, leader of the research team and Deputy Head of CCIEE’s Department of Information, introduced the current research progress on green and low-carbon technologies necessary for realizing the “dual-carbon” goals. Experts present approved the framework and focuses of the research, and put forward suggestions in major issues such as new-type electricity system, hydrogen energy, CCUS, carbon-reducing technology in transportation and zero-carbon buildings.

Zhang Xiaoqiang thanked the experts for their professional advice, and pointed out that to realize carbon neutrality and peak the emission of carbon dioxide is a major strategic decision made by the CPC Central Committee. China should deploy front-tier technology research and development in advance and accelerate application of relevant technologies to fulfill the dual-carbon goals in a timely manner. Next, the research team would digest the advice to push forward the research.
