On 19 July 2021, Jiang Zengwei, Vice Chairman of China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) met with Lu Lunyan, Chief Representative of WWF in China, to exchange views on further strengthening cooperation between the two sides. Xu Chaoyou, Head of CCIEE’s International Exchanges and Cooperation Department, and Li Nan, Director of Policy Programs of WWF China, attended the meeting as well.

Lu Lunyan introduced WWF's institutional structure, functions and operation in China. She emphasized that WWF attaches importance to ecological integrity, advocates sustainable management of forests, prohibits illegal wildlife trade, and promotes green finance and stable development of industry and supply chains. Li Nan elaborated on WWF's work in China, such as the ecological footprints of China’s new-type urbanization and the Green Belt and Road Initiative coalition, and reviewed the cooperation between WWF and CCIEE. He expressed WWF’s hope for further cooperation with CCIEE in the field of environmental protection and joint contribution to the achievement of the double targets for carbon reduction.

Jiang appreciated the fruitful cooperation between CCIEE and WWF. CCIEE, as a national high-level think tank, values ecological protection and energy transformation, especially researches on ecological development mechanism and trends. WWF’s intention to protect nature and maintain natural harmony is consistent with the Center's research direction. There is huge room for the two sides to initiate more extensive and comprehensive cooperation in the future. CCIEE is willing to continue its support for WWF’s activities and projects in China, and jointly contribute to the Chinese government’s governance efforts in ecological construction, environmental protection and the double targets of carbon reduction.

The two sides agreed to strengthen ties and constantly explore more cooperation, so as to contribute more to China’s ecological environment and natural resources protection, and maintaining natural harmony.
