On April 26th, 2023, the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) and the American Chamber of Commerce in the People’s Republic of China (AmCham China) co-hosted the US-China Business Leader Forum in China. The delegates from both parties made in-depth discussion and exchanges centered on the topics of “Digital Economy” and “Green, Low-Carbon and Sustainable Development”.

The Chinese representative stated that the economies of China and the United States are deeply intertwined, and their economic and trade relationship remains inseparable. Despite the impact of geopolitical tensions and the COVID-19 pandemic, the bilateral trade volume between China and the United States in goods reached $760 billion in 2022. There are broad prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the areas of digital economy and green and low-carbon transformation. As two global leaders in the digital economy and energy consumption, China and the United States have the ability and responsibility to jointly explore digital economy cooperation and address the challenges of green and low-carbon transformation. Companies from both sides should deepen cooperation in areas such as digital innovation applications, digital infrastructure promotion, digital trade, as well as new energy technologies and e-commerce, establish reasonable division of labor, enhance communication, and achieve mutual complementarity and win-win outcomes.

The US representative said that economic and trade cooperation between China and the United States has always been a cornerstone of their bilateral relationship, with a broad foundation for collaboration. The business communities should actively build bridges for cooperation and jointly seek solutions in the areas of digital and green development, in order to reap the benefits of the digital economy and address the pressing challenge of sustainable development. US companies attach great importance to China's "dual carbon" policy and are actively deploying energy-saving and emission reduction targets, accelerating the utilization of clean energy. It is our hope to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation, further develop the businesses in China, and contribute to the realization of China's "dual carbon" targets.
